After the highly successful D-Day commemoration trips for "Thats all Brother" and "D-Day Doll", to Normandy and Berlin. CAF UK members were able to fly on the return leg to Prestwick Scotland. Here are just a few snaps from this magnificent warbird. Thanks go to all members of CAF HQ, and the CAF Inland Empire Wing
As you can see from the pictures the weather at BHX was typical British Liquid sunshine, but the pouring rain and blustery conditions did not stop this stalwart veteran war-bird from flying.
Special thanks to Ryan Kirkpatrick , for the magnificent job standing on top of a very exposed viewing tower at BHX in the foul weather to capture the take off. A rare sight at Birmingham International, amid the usual jet airliners and planes from Fly-be and Emirates.
D-Day doll looks magnificent as she climbs away from BHX in the fog and rain. Luckily the weather broke for the trip up the country and was a fine view of the West coast of Scotland upon arrival at Prestwick.
Special thanks to the CAF Inland Empire Wing team, Col Randy Kim, Col Steve Rose, Col Dave Brothers, Col Tim Tarris and all those others too numerous to mention who assisted with this fantastic trip to Europe and in particular facilitated this return trip flight for UK CAF members.
Plane Spotter Ryan Kirkpatrick captures the moment D-day Doll departs BHX.
